Yea, me and my Surround have to wait until mid-May or something. Not real excited about it. It isn't even like I need/want most of what is in NoDo, but Microsoft is not providing a good view of how updates are going to go on WinMoPho

I have literally never used copy and paste on a smart phone (or iPod Touch). I guess it would be useful in some circumstances. I was more impressed with the speed improvements, but even they were pretty minor. Disappointing update. Overall I have found WP7 to be a disappointing platform.

It is insanely easy to remove the carrier and do the VPN trick. I've been running NoDo on my surround for a few weeks now. :)

Man . . .I don't know how I could use a phone without copy/paste. Thats something I use every single day, sometimes a few dozen times within an ~hour time frame.

Really?

I use my phone a LOT. I used the VPN hack to get my nodo update update early...and I don't use it. Seriously, who cares? Its a nice to have, here and there I use it, but its FAR from a daily necessity, and I imagine that's how it is for most users.

I find my need for it comes and goes in spurts. For example if I'm shipping something one week I'll need the tracking number from an email over and over.

I installed it a couple weeks ago with the Chevron installer hack. I did get the Samsung update yesterday, which has a few nice fixes for the camera and capacitive buttons.

I've used C&P a few times since I installed. I only had one or two times where I really missed the feature before that. The speed updates are nice but not really noticeable in most cases.

The whole update process has been a mess for WP7. Hopefully they can get it straightened out for the Mango release later this year.

My only consolation is AT&T still doesn't have a Android phone that interests me. The Captivate looks nice but I'm not fond of the idea that Samsung will stop releasing updates for it. I wish they'd release the Nexus S for AT&T.

You don't use it because you're not used to having it yet. Once you get used to it, and you'll be using it without even realizing it. It's pretty much a feature that you only miss once you've had it, and after you've had it for a while, it's pretty hard to go without.

WP7 ain't my first rodeo. I've had a half dozen or so Android devices, along with a few WM 6.5 phones, all of which had copy/paste. Its a feature I'm used to having that I didn't really miss all that much in my first six months with WP7.

If you don't like the Captivate there is always the Inspire 4g. HTC has a pretty good track record with updates so it should be a safer choice in that regard.

It's quite easy to adapt official i9000 firmware to the Cap, and a lot of ROM chefs who do it. There's already a hacky version of the official (pulled) i9000 Gingerbread from a few days ago, and it should be totally functional by the weekend.

Of course, the i9000 itself is reaching EOL... The AT&T Nexus did pass FCC, so it should be out sooner or later.

No they don't. They've announced that they won't upgrade sense for their older phones. You can
