I just downloaded WinMX to try out, and I like it :)

Lots higher bitrate songs, and i really like the how it shows if a song is "online" and ready to be downloaded. Also how many are in "queue" to download. Very nice.

It WAS good, about two years ago when Napster fell

Now it pales in comparison to most other services

the new one has multi-user downloads and stuff like that.. much better than older versions.

How so? I haven't found a better service for music, WinMX is clean, fast, and the music is high quality unlike on most anything-goes filesharing apps.

i downloaded Kazaa 1.7.2 and it wouldn't let me filter out any songs under 128kbs. that's what prompted me to try out WinMX. i don't think i'll be using Kazaa for a while. the UI is a bit more utilitarian than Kazaa. Kazaa seems to be more simplistic. WinMX isn't hard to figure out and i think the prog itself is better.

Kazaa is better for downloading movies or pr0n :p But it does pale in comparison when downloading music (since it's much harder to find songs that have a bitrate greater than 128kbps). My philosophy is if I can't find the song on WinMX, I'll look for it on Kazaa.

Ok here's a big WTF! Been using WinMX 3.22 for about a month. Last week it stopped working. Anybody else have this problem? My griflriend's also stopped working(3.22). I'm thinking it's probably because they came out with 3.3, but the old version should still work I would think. Just dl'ed, version 3.3, gonna see if it works.

Mine has been acting weird.. it uses 70-80% cpu time..

and for the past month, no-one has been able to download from me.. I dont know why.. One night people were downloading from me like crazy, the next night (nothing had changed) no-one was downloading from me.

It keeps crashing on my Windows 2000 system. It works fine on my Windows XP system though.
