winmx 3.1 is finally out...

damn, the previous version took like 80+% cpu utilization - brutal...the interface is still similar ( i like) but it's radically changed, especially with being able to download a single file from multiple users...like kazaa

but this is far better than kazaa (inc. lite) because it actually works...like the bandwidth throttling for example...i personally think it's the best P2P app out there.

yeah, but how much files/data is available? is it on par with Kazaa? Just about every time I get on Kazaa, there's usually around 1.5 to 1.8 PETABYTES worth of files being shared. Is winmx similar, or is it harder to find what you're looking for?

matter of fact, i actually find MORE of what i'm looking for in winMX...like all the hard to find stuff...and of course, all the easy to find stuff is on there as well

it doesn't tell u how many files are being shared, but i think it uses some of the same databases or something...as the kazaa and napster, etc...i'm not 100% for sure, but that's beside the point...

the amount of music files is incredible..

don't quote me on video...i rarely ever download video from it, but i'm sure it's as good as kazaa...

Kazaa is often full of crappy mp3's, but is still one of the best sources ala kazaalite. I kinda like this new version of WinMX, but nothing has beaten eDonkey2000 for movies, and games or IRC for DreamCast, and music videos.

I love WinMX for getting high bitrate mp3s of stuff (something that kazaa absolutely sucks at). Haven't tried finding any videos there yet. As always, I've not had any success with Edonkey2000; it is never able to connect to any servers. However, on one of the few times when I was able to get on one of their servers, I was able to find many nice things (things that the Mods don't like us to talk about - things that end in .iso ).

This new version of Win MX rox...I used the last version alot and liked that too. But it seemed much slower than this new version. Win MX is the best out there now that Ive tried...and I think Ive tried most of em.......

You should keep trying to get it to work. You may want to read the forums, and helps at the edonkey site, or sharereactor. It is well worth getting to work... just like IRC, is worth it only this is easier.

i tried edonkey a LONG time ago, and never liked it...but then again, i was only looking for files, and at the time, napster was king...

i might check it out again if i need videos or....

eDonkey has come a long way since. There have been people that gave up on it, til I fixed it for them and now they heavily rely on it.

High bitrate mp3s is probably the reason I use WinMX. I use Kazaa lite for everything else though.

eDonkey is great, and I still use Kazaa lite for mp3s. I should upgrade to the new WinMX... it seems that WinMX gives more of a guarantee that you can really download a file when it says you can.
