winmodem ...losemodem...

I'm trying to install a usr 56k winmodem in my p200 ....when i install it , i can click on modem , then on diagnostics and it shows to be working right ...so i try to dail up to get on the internet ...i hear it click , but it won't dail ...i get a message saying its not turned on or install right , so i reinstall it ...now when i click on diagnostic ..it says : cant open port .
what am i doing wrong ...i tried another modem and got the same thing ...thanks , ed

Try it in a different PCI slot - either slot 1, 2, or 5 (in reality, the first or last slot) - since the modem uses IRQ's you should use those slots.

I had the same problem with a USR Winmodem as well.
Just changed the slot and everything was ok.
