Hello,

My sister's computer is giving her BSOD errors, when she installs a program, when she uses WinME, the computer won't shut down and it has to be shutdown manually. The place where she bought this computer is not helping very much and all they keep doing is reinstall windows and she always is having these errors. They changed the power supply and she is also having the same problem, I am beginning to think it could be a memory problem. She has an Athlon 1.4 GHz cpu with a SIS chipset and a 250W power supply.

Any input appreciated.

perhaps you could try posting what error messages she's getting to narrow the troubleshooting field!

Hello,

Basically the can not use the computer, whenever she boots into windows, the computer is giving BSOD errors, she is getting the errors even in safe mode and it got to the point she has to shutdown the computer manually, because when she tries to shutdown the computer, she receives the BSOD errors. This errors occur even after Windows is reinstalled

Thanks for the reply.

I think he was looking for the specific error message. Maybe write it down and post what it says exactly.

Honestly, I would take it back to where your sister got it and tell them to stuff it or make it work right:| There is no reason she should have to put up with that. I know that WinME can be a pain in the arse at times, but this is rediculous. I've done a number of ME installs that went off fine which makes me think there is some sort of hardware problem. Bad RAM, wrong chipset drivers, etc. give us a little more info an the machine itself (Eg: what mobo, vid, Ram, chipset,etc.).

Gonzo is right on the money. Take it back, and duplicate your sister's problem right in front of the shop's technicians. After that, they can either help you, or BS you, and you'll know what to do then.

Hmmmm...After looking at the original post again and seeing only a 250 watter for a PS, we possibly could have found a problem..250 Watter is really pushing it with a juice-hungry 1.4 t-bird. I still say take it back where you got it, but if you have a chance to try a 300-350W PSU on that thing, do so and se if that works..

P.S. After taking a quick look here ,you will only see that there is only one 250 watter listed, an Aopen one. Everything else is 300W and up..

Hello,

You are right about the power supply, when I had my old thunderbird cpu, I changed my PS to a PC Power and Cooling 425W power supply and all my BSOD never occured anymored.

Thanks for the replies.
