WinME Freezes When Connecting USB Printer

My roomate's laptop freezes when he tries to plug in his USB printer. We have tried 2 different printers and we get a window that says "Updating Hardware Information Database" and that is where it stays. He has a Sony laptop and a Lexmark printer on WinME.
 
Perhaps you should try to install the drivers before you actually plug in the printer-that may solve the problem. But, his best bet is to finally dump ME. I'm sure you realize how bad that OS is. Just a little bit of prodding and an upgrade install to XP might make his life that much better🙂

Good for you, why waste any more time on Win ME when you could install a *real* OS
