WinME and Driver Standards?

I've been wondering about something. I haven't had a chance to mess with WinME yet. But for those who have, what can you tell me about the way drivers are handled? Is it the same as 98?

Will WinME recognize and install 95/98 drivers? Or has MS changed the driver standard for ME like they changed in in Win2K? Do we need special WinME drivers now, or will installing 95/98 drivers work ok? For the most part when Win98 came out all existing 95 drivers would work fine in 98.

I want to know if there's going to be a whole new driver fiasco like what's going on with Win2K.

Sorry for so many questions. 🙂 I'm just curious and I would like to know before I go installing it on my system.

Drivers for win98 should be working...i haven't seen any prob during the install of mine. All the drivers worked just fine.

All my drivers work just fine too. No problems. Actually upgrading to ME fixed a few problems I was having. Who would have thought?

you should be able to use win9x drivers, that are REAL win9x drivers.

some may require updates because winme is different. but NOT THAT different.

What has worked:

Sb Live - Liveware 3 + Latest Drivers
Nvidia Drivers - 5.30
Diamond Supra Express 56i Pro - Latest Drivers
Epson Stylus 860 - 5.02
Epson Gt7000 - TWAIN 3.4
WinTV - 4.18

Windmill is slick with options compared to 98 but win98 uses less system resourses.

All drivers here work fine.

And did you check that network wizard. My momma could set up a network thats even sharing a cable or dsl connection.
