Winfire - free / cheap DSL?

Anyone familiar with Winfire? They offer free DSL (with ads) or $9.95 DSL without ads.

They require that you use a particular DSL modem - Efficient - which I can't find for purchase. (Of course, they will sell one to me.)

Just curious if anyone had heard about or used this service.

I've had it for around 6 months+ now and it sucks. Don't bother unless you really cannot afford a few dollars more for real dsl but for the downtime and problems I have with winfire I'd almost rather use a modem and free dialup. I set it up for my parents because they rarely use the internet and received a free modem. How did I get the free modem? They were giving them away for free when they started up. No they are not doing it anymore. Sorry
