WinDVD - why .mpg always the same size?

Anytime I play any .mpg or .mpeg file, the window always starts out at the same size, and larger than they're supposed to be. I believe it's the same size DVD's play at. Is there any way to fix this or should I set WMP back to playing .mpg?
