How do you enable 4 speakers option in
WinDVD ?

I am using Pioneer 16x slot, and Creative
FPS2000 Digital Speakers.

Whenever I right click on the screen,
and go to the properties, it only
show 2 speakers support, and the
4 speakers option is grey (can't
be clicked).

I do get sounds from 4 speakers though,
but I am guessing with 4 speakers support
the sound will be better (or does it matter ?)

Thanks

edit : I probably should add that my soundcard
is sblive mp3+, and mobo is asus p3v4x, and
this is running on Win2K.
I also have the latest drivers from creative.

Go to http://www.inmatrix.com and download DVD Genie. It will unlock the 4-speaker and S/PDIF options in the retail version of WinDVD (Make sure you restart WinDVD after making changes). If it's working properly, you should see "4.1 Ch" next to the Dolby Digital logo in the program window instead of "DB SR."

nope it is not working,
I got dvd genie...and set the speaker option
under windvd tab to 4 speakers (in dvdgenie).

I started the windvd from dvd genie,
check the speaker option there, still 2 speakers
and the 4 speakers option still locked.

edit : enable s/pdif output is checked though
now (in windvd)

Did you have WinDVD closed when you made the changes in DVD Genie?

The speaker options in the WinDVD property menu will still be greyed out...but changing the audio mode in the WinDVD tab of DVD Genie should make it work.

yup, i close windvd.
or even restart windvd.

I don't see this 4.1 Channel coming.

Oh btw, now I can't set anything other
than 4 speakers in dvd genie, whenever
I check other option then apply, it always
jump back to 4 speakers.
But in windvd, it is still not 4 speakers.

is it because dvd genie doesn't support
windvd version 2.2 ?

I don't know dude....

If I set the audio mode to 4 speakers in DVD Genie, hit apply, close DVD Genie, then start WinDVD, it works in 4.1 channel mode.

oops...i guess 4.1 channel is working now....
it shows in the program window (I didn't know
what is this window before), but the properties
show 2 speakers though. I guess the properties
tab is wrong then.

Thanks for the help 🙂

hmm....the sound is quite small, I have to turn
up the volume more than halfway, and there is
this hissing sound from the speakers.
Is this normal ?

Oh, btw I am watching The Truman Show.
