WinDVD and Windows 2000

I recently installed a Pioneer DVD 106S DVD-ROM. I have downloaded and activated WinDVD on my Windows 2000 boot partition. The operation is usuable, but slightly "choppy" (dropped frames, I suppose). I have just installed the latest video drivers with no effect.

I tried using my Windows 98SE boot partition and the operation is very acceptable: no "choppiness" and quite smooth. However, I can't "activate" the WinDVD on the second partition without paying another $50.

Anyone know how to make WinDVD work smoothly with Windows 2000 or how to activate the second partition without paying twice?

maybe you need to enable dma. its in device manager under ide/atapi devices.

Good catch! I've been using Windows 2000 for about a year now, but I still have trouble finding things. I had looked everywhere I could think of to enable DMA, but couldn't find anything except the BIOS ... never thought to look there!

Anyhow, it works and the playback is now similiar to Win98 (I knew how to enable DMA there!).
