Windshield Wipers not cleaning much...

Previously, whenever I used my windshield wipers, they would make blurry streaks all across the windshield so I thought they were dead and needed replacing. Well I just changed em today and though it's a bit better, the problem is definitely still there. Kind of pointless to wipe if it just gets blurrier. Obviously I've cleaned off my windshield, anyone know why this could happen?
 
Did you clip them on properly? I did that once. Also I had a rental Mustang earlier this month and the wipers were streaking. I wiped em down with a tissue, pulled them up and let them drop hard a few times. Seemed to have fixed it.
 
clean the windshield really good. Get some good quality glass cleaner. You might have gotten film from something on it. Tar, sap, soot can all make your wipers streak.

Good question and I should check this out on our Accord. There's always this little streak of water when the wipers are going. Drives me bonkers.

Good quality glass cleaner? You mean like, windex? lol, seriously, is that the kind you mean or do cars need some sort of special kind to clean really well?
 
pull that little thing beside the steering wheel.. little things on the hood or in the wipers emit liquid, used in cleaning your windshield.

it really helps a lot with this type of problem.

I usually put it on once a month in the winter.

I'm curious to try out this aquapel stuff. It's suppose to last 6 months in the worst of weather.

A local glass company is running a special for $24 and they'll install a new set of wipers too.

 
Is the difference really THAT noticeable with RainX compared to no Rainx?

How do you apply it to the windshield? I want the easiest solution possible.

No not in my opinion. I have found that rainx actually prematurly makes my wipers go bad; thers residue and gunk that build up on the blades from teh rainx that make the wipers not works well when you do need to use them.

Best thing I have found is to have a pit free glass, and make sure it is clean clean clean. 'Barkeepers friend' is a great thing to clean your windshield, a very mild non abrasive cleaner. Original BonAmi cleaning power (the one in a gold can) works great as well. Cleanliness I have found repels more rain than anything else depending on what speed youre going and what kinds rain it is.

If you are getting streaks, your wipers are either dirty, worn out, or not making proper contact witht eh windshield. In sever cases, a really pitted or sandblasted windshield will be blurry/streaky no matter how clean it is or what wipers you use.

It's really easy... well.. kinda. Wash the window clean with some windex then using a paper towel, buff in rainX. You can actually feel the difference when you run your finger across the surface of the window. One time for kicks, I wanted to see how driving through the rain without the wipers would be like (don't do this unless you're REALLY sure it's safe), and the water all just rolled off my windshield. I could drive perfectly normal.
