WindowsXP SP2 and USB2.0

I just built my system the other day, and everything works fine except my USB2.0 drives aren't recognized as USB2.0. Before I installed my motherboard drivers, I had installed windows XP SP2 (because the Nvidia drivers said I had to at least have SP1 installed to recognize the USB2.0 drives - i have an 8kda3j). One of my friends said he had experienced a similar problem and he told me that when he rolled back SP2 to non-SP status, and then reinstalled XP SP1a (which he had not installed before), he regained USB2.0 compatibility.
If that is true, that is a ridiculous bug.

Does anyone know anything about this/have any experience with the same problem?

Have you tried just uninstalling the hardware, and reinstalling the drivers aftet the SP2?

I'm actually just testing this on my USB2.0 Jump Drive. And I actually didn't install the Nvidia drivers until after I downloaded SP2 anyway.

after installing SP2, open device manager, hit refresh, and then click install automatically when USB root pops up.

Go into Device Manager, uninstall the USB controllers, and restart. Also check BIOS settings to make sure Hi-Speed USB is enabled.

Just out of curiousity, what brand system is this?

I had issues with my Dell 400sc.
