Hi Michael,

I am sorry for the delay in replying to you. I am going to add you to
the distribution list for the NFR software.

Please understand that we have to be very careful when sending out
software worth thousands of dollars. I only spoke to Ryan at Asentus
briefly about this matter. However, I will give you the benefit of the
doubt that you did indeed attend.

The software you will receive is NOT FOR RESALE. We monitor multiple
channels to ensure that not for resale software does not end up being
sold through any other means. The package is marked accordingly;
Microsoft tracks each and every copy.

Again, my apologies for the delay. I will pass along your information to
our distribution vendor and you should receive this software by the end
of the week.

Thank you,
Sandra

It says "Welcome ..... ...... from Circuit City" then has sections on all of my personal info. I update it all, and submit it, and try again, but it keeps going to this update inofo page. Anyone else having this problem?

It is doing the same for me yet I see no message that says I have to update it. If you scroll all the way to the bottom it also gives you your order update anyway.

MMMMM HMmmmm, sure there is

I worked at EBGames last year and noticed that on all of the XBox games there was a barcode imprinted on the security sticker - the numbers DID change, although I'm not sure how it works.

Oh yes, and I'm working for OD - so I AM legit.

It only ends up bleeding off stock from everyone else who participates and might want in on the "good" titles (Windows XP, Office, etc..).

Maybe I'm just bitter about missing out on Office XP for the 3rd time in a row as a legit program user though...don't mind me. ;) It's obvious people are not going to exercise self restraint when they can exploit the hell out of a program like this so easily by faking out accounts and/or mass buying the titles that can be ebayed for large profit. I'd hate to see it go away as a result of not having some effective enforcement or governance in place to stem abuse.

You fail to think of the computer users who have multiple computers (9 in my case) and MS requires each and every one to have it's own version..

I'm sure that a majority of retail employees in sales positions out there have 9 PC's running at home... ;) There will always be exceptions to the rule; in this case your situation would be one of them. I'm still not buying the idea that a majority of people hording multiple copies of Office/Windows XP per this promotion are doing so to meet personal licensing requirements.

To each their own, I don't begrudge anyone snagging up legit copies of this software to use on their personal PC's that would stand up to scrutiny of their eligibility to participate in the program. Like always, there are a minority of greedy folks who will exploit the hell out of a promotion like and either force MS to stop the program or severely limit it for the legit users. I just don't want to see it spoiled for the many by the few... I hope MS wises up and at least starts flagging and verifying the people hogging up the more expensive titles.

Wadam1230, thanks for this deal!

I got mine just delivered, well worth it.
I had ordered just a few days ago, not even a week.

However, they seem to check upon you now, my store manager got a call.

Can people who recieved Office XP Pro and Windows XP Pro state whether it was the full retail, OEM, or Not for resale (nfr) version? The reason I ask is because my best friend's birthday is coming up and I got to get him something nice and he's been looking for Xp or Office Pro and I don't want to look like a cheap ass and get him a cd only not for resale version (he gets me really nice gifts). Thanks.

along with my other question 2 posts ago...I was bored so I tried to do some more training today and I completed some quizzes and it showed the certificate and everything but said I received 0 points and the quiz was still there to do again (in was listed in the additional training, not in completed training). Does this happen periodically or what?

Win XP is the Not For Sale version. Since you aren't selling it and you want to give it to your friend, i would think that would be okay.

Read back in the thread and many have posted that each product is a full retail product, not upgrade/educational/promotional with the exception of a pressure sensitive sticker they place on the regular packaging.

Dang...anyone know if they'll accept Starbucks as a "retail" store? Hey, they sell stuff, not just services ;)

For those of you who are not legit, have any of you received anything from MS stating it's invalid/etc? Just curious since a couple posts back somebody said they actually called their mgr.

I actually work at OD, so I'm wondering if there's going to be more stock for the rest of us soon...

This time when i received my windows xp, it didn't have the not for resale sticker like it usually does and it also didnt have that extra barcode on the top someone was talking about.Anyone else get one like this? I guess you could legally sale one like this.

My Windows XP Pro arrived today.. same deal with not containing any "not for resale" identification at all, looks exactly like the copies we sell in our retail locations in fact (same barcode configuration, etc.) Same with my copy of Rise of Nations. Curious. Freelancer came with a "Not for Resale" sticker though. Time to upgrade my XP Home edition, yay. Needed to reinstall Windows anyway...

One of my friends and I both ordered Windows XP, both came with different labels on the top. Hers had the newer-looking extra number label and mine had the plainer older variety. I think the ones with the extra numbers are simply newer production copies, not for tracking would-be theives. But I could be wrong. Also, neither had the not-for-resale stickers, but that is a given since to get them sent in the first place you have to agree to use them for personal use only.
