WindowsXP: Change/Remove Program list

I have a couple of programs that wouldn't uninstall properly, so I had to delete them manually. But even after removing all files and their registry entries, these programs still appear on the change/remove program list. How do I get rid of them?
 
I am almost postitive that all those are just entrys into the registry. But what I would do is reinstall then, and then try uninstalling them again and see if this gets rid of them! Also make sure that they are not running in the background before you try uninstallling, sorry if you knew this already!
 
I thought so too, and I think that was true in 95/98. But I got rid of all the reg entries in the "Software" section but the programs are still on the remove list.
