And now my frustration will be complete. Freakin' Leadtek still hasn't produced any 64bit drivers/PVR software for my TV tuner card. :|

Ya, they probably won't for some time I'm guessing.

I am happy to announce that Windows Server 2003 SP1 has been shipped for English and German. Just a short time ago, at 5:20 PM Pacific Standard Time, the final call was made.

The update packages (self extracting EXE) is on ***some URL***. They will also be available shortly on http://www.microsoft.com as well as through the Microsoft Developer Network (MSDN).

Please note that while Windows Server 2003 x64 Editions and Windows XP Professional x64 Edition were also were released to manufacturing today they will not be available through the WindowsBeta website. They will be available through various partners in late April.

I would like to thank everyone who participated in this beta program for your help in testing Windows. It was a pleasure to work with you all and I hope to see you in future Windows projects.

Well, there you have it folks. It's been released to manufacturing. I can now focus on Windows Server 2003 R2 and Microsoft Update beta programs.
 
Anyone heard about how MS will handle the upgrade for current 32-bit XP users who want Win XP-64 and currently have 64bit chips ?
 
One speculation is that they will offer an exchange & surrender of the 32-bit OpSys
where you send in the original disc W/sticker (KEY CODE) in and they replace that
with a certified 64XP installation disc, new key code, then de-activate & kill the old
32-Bit key code.

Not sure if that would extend to 'Home' or even OEM installations, as the 64XP being released is a Pro version.

Purchase wise, look for the end of this month or early May, tornado season.

 
whats the catch on microsoft giving away windowsxp 64bit edition for free? is this a complete os, or do you need xp installed on your computer?

Simple - If you are using a computer with an AMD 64-Bit processor, and install a second hard drive -
you can download amd install the Microsoft BATA versin by downloading and boot installing that
program onto your computer - I think is has a 360 day run-time built in before it does the 'Mission Impossible' thing & turns itself off.

If during that time you have that OS running, you have a leagal copy of the 32-Bit XP OpSys - they'll do the surrender & swap . . .

Is the only way to get a CD key through MSDN at the moment? I have it up and running but it doesn't like my key from RC1/beta/whatever.

On another note, I bought a Linksys WMP54G expecting it to have a Broadcom chipset with 64 bit drivers already built into windows, but instead I found that it had a Ralink RT2500 chipset. Luckily driver support for this chipset is great, and I have it up and running. Drivers were found on their website here: http://www.ralinktech.com/supp-1.htm It changes the card to no longer be labelled as a Linksys, but that doesn't matter. Furthermore, I get much much better reception with these drivers than the ones on the CD.
 
Microsoft changed Key Codes when they went from RC1 to RC2.

Sign up for the Free RC2 & use that Key Code,
You may want to download the ISO file & re-install the new RC2 -
it's much more robust than the RC1 was.
 
Are there an good free Antivirus programs out now?

I really love Antivir and if i cant find a free AV program that's just as good then I'll just have to wait for Antivr64 bit then.

Thanks Kirk, I think I'll wait a bit for apps & drivers to catch up with Xp64 bit before I even consider it as my main os...
 
I haven't been keeping up with this thread lately, so forgive me if someone has already asked this (although I didn't find anything relevant when I tried to search). Does anyone know if AMD is going to release a CPU driver that enables Cool 'N' Quiet for XP x64, similar to how they had to release a CPU driver for XP 32-bit? I posted on this thread a few months ago asking if anyone had gotten Cool 'N' Quiet to work for XP x64, and no one had been successful. As far as I know, there has been no progress since, mainly because AMD still hasn't released an appropiate CPU driver. Do you think AMD's waiting for the official release or something? Any info would be greatly appreciated.
 
are sata drivers allready included in win x64?
are there any drivers for audigy 2 ZS out on the market?
i couldn't find them on internet, their webpages (my MB is Gigabyte k8ns pro and i'm not sure that i have all drivers ready for installing win x64).

For the SATA, you'll just have to wait and see. As for the Audigy, Creative has a preview site with the latest Audigy x64 drivers.

As for SATA, you're going to need to get the drivers for whatever SATA controller is on your board, such as the nForce 4 drivers or the Silicon Image 3x12 drivers.
 
i have nvidia nforce 3 on my board and i found drivers for this chipset on gigabyte home page, but i'm not sure that they included the sata drivers.
