Hello,

My brother went to boot up Windows2000 a few weeks ago after using it for years and it was just like he was using a fresh install of Windows for the first time, such as all of his email was missing, his dial up connection was missing, He had to reconfigure his printer, he had to "sign on" to Windows as a first time user and there were no other user profiles listed that he could have accidently signed on under. I'm pretty sure I've got my facts straight from him.

He ask me to explain it but I don't have an answer. Does anybody here know what could have happened? He still can't find any of his old email anywhere.

Thanks for any input you may offer.

I am curious as to what is happening in his event log. He might have had a corrupted profile, but it would have told him that when he was logging on (Something like windows couldn't open your default profile, any changes you make will not be permanent, yada yada yada). Event log can be found under Administrative tools in the control panel. Give event errors and their sources if possible. Thanks.
