Windows Zero Configuration Problem

QueBert

Lifer
running XP Pro sp2, all the latest updates. I bought a wireless adapter, it's telling me to disable WZC, only problem, I enter services.msc and there's no entry for it. I thought I was drunk or something and checked a few times, there's nothing. Googling my ass off I can't find anyone who has this problem. When I go to my wireless setting in my control panel it says

Windows Cannot configure this connection.
if you have enabled another program to manage the wireless connection, use that software. I have nothing installed, and even if I did, I should still see the WZC in my services just disabled right?

argh!

should...I have an cisco card with the ACU, and I still see the Wireless Zero Configuration listed in services.

Try This:

1. Run regedit drill down to:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\WZCSVC

2. Add a DWORD entry named "Start" and value "2".
