Windows XP + Zip250 USB (self powered) problem

Maybe me and my co-workers are complete retards, but we just plugged our self-powered Zip250 USB drive into the back of a windows XP machine. The active devices icon comes up in the taskbar, it shows up in the device manager, but NOT in 'my computer'. In other words, it's there and completely installed, but we can't view the information in the drive. We can't open the disk in explorer. What's the problem?
