I recently read an article that suggested that Microsoft were going to offer a free upgrade/trade in for their new 64 bit Windows XP. Has anyone else heard about this and does anyone know what you will be allowed to trade in. I assume it's for Win XP Professional only, but what about Win 2000 Professional?

It would be a shocker to me if MS was so magnanamous. Last I saw anything like that was my free upgrade to Win 3.1. (They did lose a suit to Stacker on DOS 6.2, and had to offer everybody 6.22 as I remember.) Are they afraid that the upcoming release of Win64 will keep people from buying XP?
