Windows Xp won't turn off

Could someone help me? Windows Xp would not turn off. It would reboot instead. It would reboot until I turn off power supply to the computer. Thanks

Do you have Roxio Ez-Cd Creator 5 installed?

To stop the rebooting, and get the actual error message, you need to disable auto-restart.

Right-click My Computer, and then click [/b]Properties.
On the Advanced tab, click Settings under Startup and Recovery.
Click to clear the Automatically restart check box under System failure, and then click OK.

Get the Xteq tweaker. Run and install it. Once it is up and running, use the Power User interface option.
In the Xteq program itself, go to Startup/Shutdown -> Shutdown -> Windows NT/2K/XP -> Shutdown Menu -> Windows XP Power off on Shutdown. Enable that option.
LMK if that works, or if you want more instructions on the usage of the program.

Jeff7 and
Kingofcomputer, thanks. Still having the same problem. So, I'm going to reformat and re-install Xp. Once again, thanks for your help

If you haven't already done the reinstall another thing to check is to be certain that PnP OS is set to no in the bios.

Another thing is to apply all service packs for XP - I had the same problem on one of my PC's and whatever it was, it went away after the updates were applied.
