Windows XP users (question)

How annoying is Window XP for all those beta testers? I change components in my system quite often (video cards, hard drives, motherboards, CPU's etc..). I can see how their hardware lock system for preventing users to distribute Windows XP can become very annoying overtime. Also, I understand that it requires higher performing hardware than Windows Me or 2K did. Does that affect gaming as well (does it perform on par with Windows 2000 when playing games or does it perform a lot slower)? Thanks.

The hardware requirements really aren't that greater than those for Win2K. You can run it easily on anything about a P3 500. Performance in games has been increased (not sure how, but they did it).

As for the locking system: XP has a certain amount of flexibility in it so that you don't have to reactivate it when you change a single component. In fact, you can usually change about three components before it needs to be reactivated. XP gives you 30 days to re-activate if it decides it needs to be, so it isn't like you would need to reactivate if you were just testing some new hardware for a day. And don't forget, there are already cracks out so that you don't have to activate at all 🙂

I don't suppose someone can email me a link for the crack? Thanks. I want to take a crack at Windows XP for a while(pun intended) 🙂
