Windows XP update for P4C Hyperthreading

There is an update for Windows that suppose to help "where a program that uses large mapped file views to share information". What does this mean? Is it when you are trying to access or folder with lots of files? Cuz i think i might have that problem. Whenever i try to open some folders with tons of deep directories, it takes like 3 seconds or more. Everything else is almost instantaneous, and this is on a 15k.3 SCSI fully defragged.
