Windows XP taskbar icon problem

Hi all,

This has really annoyed me for a year now, but after searching to the deeep dark depths of Google and finding no answers, I hope I can get some here.

Whenever I boot up to Windows XP, and login right away, not all the taskbar icons show. I'm lucky if even 1-2 show. However if I wait at the login screen for about 15 seconds, and then login, the icons are all there. This only happens to some of my computers, and I have 4. Two of them do this.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks,

Patrick

Activate the Task Manager and kill all the Explore.exe processes. You will usually have just one after loading Windows. Then, launch a new program, "explorer.exe". It will load the desktop and everything, and will show all the icons in the sys tray.

uh.. how many programs running on your taskbar actually? I only have 3 (volume control, daemon tools and antivirus) and the network wonnection when i'm online. turn off those you dont really need

8 load for me all the time.

Ive had a similar problim as you. just randomally does it. and VBboy that dosent always work. icons for Maxmem, Seti, weather watcher, trillian, coolmon,... there are others dont come back when you do this. i know cause ive tried it before
