Windows XP start up

I know this has been addressed here, but search as I have I'm unable to locate what I had read.

I've cleaned out to the best of my knowledge but it was posted another way to find these programs & I can't recall how or where.

Too, do program shortcuts on the left side in task bar slow down my pc when it's running?

I believe you are looking for a program to identify and select the windows startup items. If that is what you want go to http://www.mlin.net and get startup control panel. It's avaliable as a .exe program or a control panel item.

It shows startup items from several registry areas and the start menu and provides a check box to deactivate the items. It's very useful for eliminating unwanted startup items that every vendor adds to thier drivers and stopping malware loads while you clean them up otherwise.
