Windows XP setup freexes during install

I just finished putting together a new PC. When I try to install Windows XP, it boots from the CD ok and it gets to the screen that says Setup is starting Windows, then it stops and won't go any further. I have tried many times and keep getting the same thing. The BIOS detects my hard drive on the primary master correctly and it detects my LiteOn DVD-ROM and LiteOn CD-RW drives correctly. My Promise Ultra 100 TX2 IDE card detects my other hard drive and my Pioneer DVD-RW drive correctly. The POST also detects my RAM correctly in dual channel configuration. I have the drive boot order in the BIOS set as 1. Floppy, 2. CD-ROM, 3. HDD-0. Does anyone have any ideas of what is wrong?

Here are my brand new system specs:

-Gigabyte motherboard with Intel 875P chupset GA-8IK1100
-Intel Pentium 4 3.0 GHz 800 MHz FSB
-1 GB of Corsair XMS DDR SDRAM PC3200 in dual channel configuration (2*512 MB sticks)
-ATI Radeon 9800 Pro video card
-Sound Blaster Audigy Gamer Sound Card
-Promise IDE controller card Ultra 100 TX2
-LiteOn 16X/48X DVD-ROM drive on secondary master
-LiteOn 32X/12X/40X CD-RW LTR32123S drive on secondary slave
-40 GB 8MB cache Western Digital Hard Drive on Primary master
-Pioneer DVD-RW DVR-104 on Promise IDE card
-120 GB 8MB cache Western Digital hard drive on Promise IDE card (other cable, not same cable as hard drive)
-Attempting to install Windows XP Pro w/SP1

First thiing I would try is taking out the extra components.

Just have video, RAM, one HD, one CD, and see what happens. That way you can tell if it is hainging while looking at some peice of hardware.

Make sure that the Virus protection from the motherboards BIOS is switched off during OS installation.

i had a problem with this also.....always stopped during the checking network part........took me like 3 days to figure it out......my cat5 cable shite to bed.......wouldnt connect at 100mb but would at 10mb......changed it out and all was well
