Setup: D865GLC motherboard, P4 2.66 (533 bus, iirc)
2 GB ram
2 IDE drives (80 gig Master, 160 gig Slave)
2 IDE Optical drives (CD Burner, master, DVD Burner, Slave)
SBLive Value (PCI)
GForce4 TI 4200 (AGP)
3Com NIC (PCI)

Adaptec AHA 2940UW SCSI card (PCI, non RAID)
Seagate ST39172LW SCSI drive (9 gig, only device on chain except terminator)
WinXP Pro SP2 fully patched

I can see the drive udner "Disk Drives" in device manager, but it's not listed under "Disk Managment" to assign a drive letter. Any ideas? I have tried removing entries from Device Manager, multiple reboots, no dice.

Create a partition?
OK, unlikely I know. Mine's working fine....
ST318404LW (18gig, only device on chain)
LSI Logic 53C1010-33

I use mine as the boot device, w/ the SATA HD as the data drive.
I don't remember exactly how I got this working...I seem to recall going into the scsi config in the card bios when I first set this up w/ a 9gig drive. Imaged that to the 18gig, pulled the 9, set the 18 to boot...done.

non raid, card, Don't have to use the BIOS to create a volume. Cannot partition the drive, as it's not showing in device manager.

Do you have to turn on int19h? (I think that's only needed for a bootable drive)
What does the controller manual say? (I think this is a controller/Windows issue, not a drive issue)

Okay I'm a little confused now. Is the drive showing up in the device manager under "Disk Drives"? If I'm reading your OP correctly you should see a total of 3.

Which drivers are you using, the Windows drivers or those directly from Adaptec? (http://www.adaptec.com/worldwide/suppor...ge=English+US&cat=/Product/AHA-2940UW)

Have you tried updating the drivers?

Yes it'll show; there just wont be any containers listed under it.

using Windows drivers (I'll update today). Under "Disk Drives" In device manager, I see 3 drives.
