Is there any way to change the name and company that windows says its registered to after windows has been installed? I am selling one of my computers to a friend and it would be nice if we could change the name to his.
 
There is no way at all. It's in the End-User agreement. Once it's on that PC, you can't use it on anything else. If XP does see that it's a different hardware with the matching Key-Code, they will not re-activate it. Once it's registered, it's like a tattoo on your body. 😛
 
i just changed the registered to name on a 98se box

use regedit

search for the name and rename it
