view-> status bar?

that worked for me

i know that one, but it only works for that particular window that particulare time. i want it so that whenever i go into explorer, the status bar is always there.

I had the same thing happen to me when I first installed XP. I had to reformat and reinstall about a week ago and it mysteriously stopped happening. I'd like to know why it did that, too. 🙂

Enable the status bar, and set up the folders as you like them. Then go to tools-> folder options->view and Apply to all Folders. The only thing that works for me.
I only wish I could lock the statul bar in Explorer and IE as well as some of the other bars such that they can never be removed. Gpedit has an option to force remove them but not force activate them.
