Hi I have owned a copy of windows xp for 5 years or
Well my computer just dies and I am building another one
Will I be able to install windows XP using the same discs I used for my old computer or do I have to buy a completely new copy?
Thanks

Also curious as to what advantages Vista has over XP or the pros and cons of getting vista instead
Thank You
Ric

If you have a retail version of windows, you can install it on as many machines as you want, but, only one at a time. If it is an oem copy you can only use it for the original machine you installed it on in the first place. As far as Vista goes it looks pretty and has better security, but I won't spend the dollars for it just yet. Lots of folks seem to have driver problems, but I had the Beta installed and the only driver problem I had was with my network card. The winxp driver worked fine for it I'll probably get it through mapps and use it on a machine or two. The hardware requirements are quite a bit more than for windows xp, it is kind of a memory hog.
