Windows XP problems... please help!!!

I had problems with my computer on windows 98se, so i upgraded to xp. well, those problems remained, so i reformatted and installed windows xp fresh. it was fine for a while, but now every once in a while i get this stupid error message (xp's version of the blue screen of death) and it gives me this horribly basic message telling me to uninstall new hardware, bios stuff, etc. sometimes it also tells me win32k.sys error. what is this and what can i do?? please help, this is severely handicapping what i need to do.

AMD 1.2 T-bird
Epox 8k7a+
SB live
MSI starforce GeForce2 Pro
512 ddr

From my Experiences with Nvidia cards and XP is that they dont get along too well, install the newest Detonators from Nvidia's site (use WDM drivers so they are stable)

Hess.

This could also be a RAM problem. I got that screen on a fresh install and a different stick of PC133 fixed the problem.

One other thing you can do is go into control panel>administrative tools>event viewer. Look in there for error msg with a "little" more description.

thanks for the help guys. i actually redid the whole install yesterday and it seems to be working ALMOST fine now. when i burned a cd it was slower than it used to be. also, i could barely open internet explorer when burning, which makes me want to say my ram is bad. what should i do to check it? i have 2 sticks of pc2100 256mb ddr ram.
