I had a problem with windows that said i needed to reinstall it and i did but now all my document and program files i cannot be used is there any way to recover the files just reinstalled windows how do i restore the old accounts and everything and programs any help would be appreciated cause my work is locked inside my documents !!!

So you didn't backup your stuff first before installing windows? Did you format or did you just reinstall in the same directory?

btw, good luck, you might be screwed

You cannot restore the old accounts, just make them again. I'm not sure if you will be able to do file recovery.

well file recovery what does that mean and can i recover my program files cause they are still there anyway i can restore them and use the programs cause they werent deleted

File recovery involves using a software program to get the files back but all that software costs money or you could send the drive to a lab and have it recoverd but that is really really expensive.

Program files, no, even though they are still there the registry entries are all gone and thus they need to all be reinstalled.

your programs are a goner, but your files shouldnt be unusable. any documents, movies, music, saved accounts outside of windows, all that should still be there, as that has nothing to do with windows. when you reinstall, only windows gets reinstalled.
