I just want to ask simply, why is it so hard for XP Pro to have two settings for network sharing.
One allowing anyone to access that ONE folder and another where the folder's permissions are specific to what you set. Seems so freaking simple.
So why is it when i turn on read permissions and security for everyone on a folder, it still asks for a password?
I'd like my network to be friendly to anyone who plugs in for certain folders, so i really don't want to password protect a public folder.
Does anyone have any clue on a reliable guide to this problem?
I've tried changing services and playing with permissions so much i'm about to puke.
-Thank you
