Ive installed windows xp pro on the same computer before with no problems

the only things i have added since then was:

new ram
keyboard/mouse
ps2 game controller port (usb)
printer
mitsumi 54x cdrw drive

it freezes during installation (well the things that tell you about xp and the little blinking dots in the bottom right keep going so its actually hanging not freezing) about 2/3rds of the way through and i even tried disconnecting all of the above mentioned things (except the ram and cdrw drive) and same thing happens...

i read online this could be a USB Mouse problem however my mouse/keyboard are ps/2

1 interesting thing--- About a minute before it freezes a thing pops up and tells me my happhauge video driver has not been certified with xp and asks me if i wanna install it and whether i press yes or no it still hangs in the same spot

even if i can just go back to my old install of windows i would be happy (i started installing this one because on startup, i had no icons or taskbar but now since i have been able to go on my friends computer i learned that this is a virus and all i gotta do is end its task....) HOWEVER once again i try and hit RESOTRE TO PREVIOUS OPERATING SYSTEM ON C: and then i get this error message-- INVALID SYSTEM DISK (there is no disk in the drive thou...) and then if i hit enter it says NTLDR is missing press ctrl alt del to restart

so if anyone could help me i would really appreciate it....thanks alot

wow i just screwed it up even more

i found a solution online to the ntldr thing so i did what it said and booted with the win 98 bootup disk and typed sys C:

now when i restart i dont even get an option to go into setup or restore to old OS

it just says
C:\

i dunno wut i did but i definately screwed it up more than it was already screwed up
im gunna try to start the win xp installation program again maybe it will overwrite what i do

thanks
not only do i not have any of those things but i dont think shutting down or restarting is really my problem at this point, as i cannot get into windows xp right now

i fixed the C: thing by redoing the win xp install but it still hangs while installing devices at 34 min...
