I have a a home wired with Cat5e ethernet. All PCs, regardless of where I plug them in, all can access the 'net through the Netgear gateway. I cannot get peer to peer "Workgroup" networking to work. When I open the workgroup, I can "see" the other computers but do not have "permission" or "server not available," yet when I try a Run Dialog to the IP of the computer with the share I want to access, I can get the shares. \\192.168.0.x When I try the UNC path to the machine, I get the same error.

Sharing is enabled
All PCs in same Workgroup
All PCs running XP Pro (properly licensed and updated as of 3/13/07)
No problem accesing Internet
All wired, no wireless problems. (There is a wireless gateway, but I disconnected it.)

Any ideas?? I have 'Googled' and read about 100 MS-KB articles and tried every suggestion.

EDIT: All firewalls have been turned off or completely uninstalled.

Thanks JackMDS. When I return from Boston I will give it a try. I was going to remove and reinstall the TCP/IP Stack and Windows Networking, but adding NetBEUI may be easier.

1. Check simple file sharing.

2. Windows XP does not allow authentication of blank password accounts.
