Windows XP Networking!!! How How???

Hey, I posted this in the Windows forum too so if you saw if before its cool. Any I got 2 XP boxes and 1 WIn 98 box, and am trying to network them. THey are sharing a single internet connection and it is fast. And we can play multiplayer game ex. AGE II Quake III, RTCW etc. etc. but when I want to go share printers Hardware etc etc. they cannot see eachother on the network! Then from past expirences, when they do see eachother how on Gods earth do I get past the logon screen?? I have/never put ANY passwords on any of these computers, and the user name is just my first and last name. I can NEVER get past there. Any helo would be appreciated. Thanks. --Garrett

Well, maybe it's about time you start using passwords. I'm not 100% sure, but I'm thinking that passwords (at least in Microsoft's view) should be necessary to control the resources that are shared and used on the network.

he is right, windows 2000/XP needs passwords to access shares, unless you use the guest account, and for windows xp you have to use either simple or advanced file sharing, make sure that the windows 98 box has the same workgroup name as the windows xp boxes, which is by default, "MSHOME". For you I would probably recommend sticking to Simple File Sharing, just right click the drive letter or folder and set the sharing properties. This is a fairly simple process. There are a number of tutorials at www.practicallynetworked.com that should get you on the ball. Good Luck.

Yeah, I have networked before but with strictly 98, even the server wasn 98 so it was very easy. So what you guys are saying is that Im going to need to have a boot-up password??? Ohwell, if thats what it takes. Thanks for your help.
