Windows XP Login Issue

I enter my password into the classic XP login screen and hit enter and it takes a little over a minute to get my to my desktop at all.

The screen stays with the login box and I can move the mouse around the blank desktop but if I mouse over the login box, it disappears.

Once it's logged in, everything seems fine so far...

Any ideas to try when I get home?

New install is the obvious option but I don't have time for that right now 🙂

Install Tweak-UI, and then set up autologon and you can bypass all that password stuff.
 
When did this start? Has it always been like this?

It never hurts to take a look at the System Event log, looking for relevant errors.
