SIW
Belarc Advisor

Both of these are better than Magic Jelly Bean Finder (although MJBF was the first such tool, I think).

Isecond Belarc Advisor. It will also give you the keys to all installed software. Avoid the jelly bean - it is borderline malware.

Heh!

Another vote for Belarc Advisor...

Everyone should be using Belarc, regardless! 😀

Why does it matter if you're going to reformat shortly after regardless?

Jelly Bean also gives you keys to other installed software besides Windows. Why do you say its borderline malware? I use it all the time and with no problems.

On the other hand I'm going to check out Belarc Advisor based on the recommendations so far.

Belarc Advisor .. Aida32 ... Everest Home Edition
Between those you should get everything you need
to know. Belarc is very good.

I dunno about XP, but the ABR tool in this thread was able to backup and restore my activation keys for Vista HP when I switched from x86 to x64.
