I got an error message that said "Windows Explorer has encountered a problem. We apologize for the inconvenience."

What next? "winword.exe has performed an illegal operation. Don't worry though, it doesn't mean you go to jail or the police are coming. Now to sooth your scared brain look at this pretty picture. Isn't it neat? Continue computing. Remember Microsoft is good!"

I wonder how many of you will retain your smart-ass comments when asked to write several millions lines of code.

No one here is getting paid to write the code in the first place, but are expected to pay for the end result...

Well there are a lot more issues that I can't even start explaining here, without goiong into "Introduction to Software Engineering 101". Anyways, it's not like N programmers are going to be N times more effective.

Hi Russ,

Thank you for your concern. Rest assured, the programmer who made this mistake has been terminated.

Here at Microsoft, we strive to provide incomprehensible and outright mean error messages. This is a task we take very seriously :)

To which my answer was:

<< No one here is getting paid to write the code in the first place, but are expected to pay for the end result... >>

To which RGN stumbles in to say:

<< uhh, these guys should be paid. They have families to ya know.. >>

To which I reply:

<< Where did I say they shouldn't get paid? How did you get to be a Platinum Member by being so dense? >>

I always wonder where we would be today, in the world of computing, without MS...hmmmm. In any event, I sure like their products :)

When you jackasses can make a perfect OS (which will never happen), then maybe you can talk some trash. At least M$ is making strides to create a more robust and error-free OS... I don't see any of you doing it.

Win2000 is fantastic, and I'm sure XP Pro will be a fine OS as well.

Everyone likes to knock it, but I only have respect for the ones who knock it and don't use any MS products...
