I'm attempting to install Windows XP Pro on a Maxtor 250GB Diamondmax SATA HD. Here are my components:

DFI Ultra-D nf4
Athlon 3500+
X850XT
OCZ pc4000 ddr500
MGE 500W PSU

I booted from the DVD-RW with my XP Pro CD, hit F6 to install the SATA controllers off the floppy that came with my DFI mobo, it loaded the drivers just fine, but when I get to where Windows asks, "To set up Windows XP now, press ENTER," and I hit enter...I get a blue screen of death. Any ideas?

Help!

*update* Sometimes instead of the blue screen when I hit enter I get an automatic reboot.

I'm not able to reproduce the BSOD. It just reboots automatically each time. I'm running Memtest on it right now, and it looks like it's coming up with some errors. What are the chances my brand new memory modules would be bad? I thought Monarch tested them before sending them out.

What next? Return the modules for new ones? They're 512x2 (1GB) dual channel.

This is my first build, so I appreciate any help I can get!

If memtest finds errors with the memory, then you should rma it,

Brand new parts can be bad just as old parts,
