Windows XP install

I've never reformatted a computer with windows XP Home Edition. Do I have to create a startup disk and use comands such as format c: then put in my XP cd? Or do I just pop the cd in while the pc is still on and will it do a clean format and install to get rid of all the crap on my computer?

Thanks,

Orange

You can boot directly from the CD and format from within Windows setup. I would also recommend slipstreaming SP2 onto your setup CD prior to installing (if it's not already integrated). That will help protect your PC when you connect it to the internet, and it should save you time as well.

There are many guides online about how to do this. Here is one.
