Windows XP install problem

Everytime I go to install Windows XP, It loads all the setup files, then blue screens when i go to setup the hard drive. I have tried 3 different video cards, AGP-PCI, 2 different Hard drives, and different RAM, even different optical drives, they only thing that has not been changed is my CPU and Motherboard. My gut feeling is that my motherboard or cpu is bad.
Has anyone experienced this before?

yep, i think in my case the ram turned out to be bad. But since you tried that i would bet that as you mentioned, the cpu or mobo is bad.

yeah i ran the memory through Memtest86 and it tested good, i did swap all of the ide cables, and i have tried 3 different install cds.
