Okay here is what I'm trying to accomplish. I have the following setup.
Everything was working fine, except for I was having some issues with iTunes, and Nero Ultra. I couldn't get WinXP to burn a cd either. So I decided I would reformat my computer and reload everything today.
AN8 Ultra
Athlon 64 X2 4200
Corsair TwinX 2x1GB RAM
Hitachi Desktar 160GB SATA II HDS
Nvidia 6800GTX
Seasonic 500W power supply
This is where my trouble started. I decided that I would reset all of the factory defaults in the Bios, I then enabled the RAID for the SATA drives and disabled the onboard Firewire as it can create IRQ assignment issues with this boards allready flakey USB controller. I save and exit the bios and go into the f10 setup utility for the raid, there was an existing array from the previous install, which I proceeded to delete and recreate. I then boot windows from the winXP disk and hit F6 to install the raid drivers. I get the raid drivers in and windows setup asks if I want ot create a partition since the new array doesn't have one. I do this and quick format the array. All of this went without a hitch. Windows then goes to a copying files screen and says it may take a few minutes. It took my computer over 4+ hours to load those files. My computer is now finishing up the windows Install because I had to go to bed, but I do remember it only taking my system about 25 minutes to load windows after my last reformat about 8 months ago. Any ideas as to why it would be so slow to load?
thanks in advance for all of your help,
