Windows XP Install Error FDC.sys

While installing this problem appeared while windows setup. I can't seem to get around this problem.

"fdc.sys is corrupted"

The only option is to click okay and restart. Tried it twice with the same result.

Can this problem be fixed? Is it a CD problem?

While checking on the net, I found it seems to be related to a floppy drive controller but that does not help in this situation.

Is this an original CD or a burned copy? Any scratches on the disk? Another thing to check is the memory in the machine using Memtest. Many times these types of errors are the result of bad memory but it usually does it at random files, not always the same one.

All of the above and also check for bad/lose IDE cables...I once had one of those in my rig...realllly frustrating. 🙂

Good luck!
