Windows XP Home Upgrade Only $59! w/Free Shipping

Do you think a k6-2+450@550 has enough umph for XP?
I believe its a little more than a cel@550.

jayR, your CPU can run WinXP adequately, but I would recommend turning down or off some of the graphics settings. Graphics features like translucencies, fading windows, clear-type fonts, etc., can really slow performance down. Go into the "Advanced" tab of System Properties and take it from there.

As far as running applications goes, WinXP should be at least as fast as any other Windows OS--provided that we are talking about full 32-bit apps. So if the graphics settings are the same, Office 2000 should run as fast or faster, and definitely more stably, on WinXP as on any other version of Windows.

Btw, WinXP contains some features that allow everything to look and run almost exactly like a previous version of Windows, such as Win98.

In my experience, hard drive speed and amount of memory are at least as important as CPU speed when running XP on a marginal computer.

As long as you turn off most to all of the Eye candy ADD ons it runs pretty well and a hell of a lot more stable than WIN ME.... Also think of upgrading to 256 mb or 128 min....

Thanks guys.

I'm currently on ME and instability is - - - - - - me. At work we recently went to win2000 from 95 and I can't believe the difference. So stable. But work is a P3-950.

At home I've got 256MB PC133 and 7200RPM 20GB drive. I think this should be enough in those departments.

I also have an NVIDIA Vanta w/16MB RAM.

P.S. For some reason if I try to correctly spell kyling it gets deleted from my post.?!?

ANyone know if there is a new coupon code? Or if there is another place to get winxp home upgrade? I missed my opportunity!!
