Windows XP Home Activation Problem

Trying to activate Windows XP Home (yes a legal copy) on a new machine at work via the internet. When it gets to the part where it checks for internet connectivity, it sits there for a couple of minutes then times out saying "Online activation cannot be completed at this time". When I try to use the telephone option, the recommended 1-800 number comes up blank, so I can't call in either. I activated a machine yesterday over the internet without any trouble. Ideas?

EDIT: Yes the internet connection works properly. I can browse the internet no problem.

Very strange. Especially the part about the 800 number not showing up.

In any case, the number you need is (888) 571-2048. But that doesn't help explain why things aren't working.

Hah....darnest thing. I waited for about 2 hours, then tried it again right before I left for home and the thing worked without a hickup! Maybe it could have been something on the M$ side...? Wonder if anyone else had issues while trying to activate around that time...
