My computer crashed to the point I couldn't recover. However I was able to get into ERD and move all the important files from C drive to D drive before a clean installation.

After a fresh installed XP, it recognize both of my hard drives. However when I click on the D drive to move the files back it's telling me the hard drive is not formated!!!

I reboot again to go back to ERD and it no longer recognize my D drive anymore.

Any ideas/suggestions?

thanks in advance

If you have an old release of Windows, you may need to install a Service Pack before it can recognize hard-drive partitions which are above a certain capacity. So if you have Windows XP, install Service Pack 2 and then try again (assuming you don't have SP2 installed already).

Any good?

Unfortunately I have updated everything. Because I know the older release of XP can't recognize hard drives above 136gb?
It has SP2 installed

In Computer Management, go down to Disk Management :camera: and see if your D drive can be imported/adopted (right-click its DISK 1 icon or whichever it is, and see what options you get). Any luck?

If not, this thread has data-recovery tools listed.

No other option other than making it active..

I tried using finaldata to recover my file.. it gave me an error saying format not supported.
