This is just weird. When I first installed XP about a year ago I went into the registry and disabled autoplay. About a month ago it started popping up for no apparent reason, but only late at night, around 1 or 2 am.

My antivirus is up to date, nothing found.
Spybot and Ad-aware each find nothing.
Nothing listed in scheduled tasks.

All I get is a little Autoplay window pop up with the searching text and the little flashlight going back and forth, it only stays up for about 10 seconds or so before it disappears. It's annoying as hell because it keeps dropping me back to the desktop in the middle of gaming.

Oh, and it seemed to start happening after I got around to installing sp2. I checked and autoplay is still disabled in the registry.

If it makes ya feel any better. I've killed autoplay a number of times, it keeps coming back. I don't have service pack 1 or 2 installed.
I've given up. Killed it in drive properties. When it does pop up, check the box that says "Take this action for future use" "DO NOTHING". But it keeps poping up each time for everything, music, data,....

I don't use windows to often anymore, mostly linux now. But I too would like to know how to once and for all have Windows do "nothing" when inserting CD of any kind.

Do we use windows, or does windows use us :/

Oh yeah, forgot to mention, this happens without a CD/DVD in either drive or any cards in the 5-1 media card reader.
