I was wondering if it is possible to create a new process every time you double click something, and whether there were disadvantages to do things so. I know that the biggest advantage to doing things like this is that if, for example, internet explorer crashes, then it won't bring down the whole system.

At the moment I am just going to the run dialog and typing in iexplore, but that is very tedious. The advantage with this is that if explorer carshes that it won't bring down the whole system. I am assuming though, that this method would use a lot of memory.

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

firefox?

I can't remember the last time IE took down a system. Typically you have to kill the process or hit the dialog box when it says IE is tired. If IE is taking down, IE BSoD, Black Screen of Death, then you need to do some diagnostics on that box.

This is because we are working on a program here, and it involves IE (though I do wish it did involve FF, but it's not my choice). Also, this would be helpful in general because it just is (i'm tired, and can't be bothered to explian)

edit: also the above was just an example. just saying this would be helpful in general

Generally that's what happens, you double-click on an icon and windows runs that app. If you're simply talking about explorer and folders, there's the option bsobel mentioned.
