Windows Won't Install

Hi guys,
Im trying to install windows XP Pro on one of my machines. I boot from the cd and i get the normal press any key to continue setup of windows. I do all that and the process looks good and everything. But once it's finish and the red bar comes out asking me to restart the computer i do. The problem is this process occurs all over again. So after this happening so many times, i entered the bios and had the primary boot up device be the HD and the CD rom as secondary. Afterwards it says no operating system found. I know for a fact its not the Harddrive since i tested it and did a complete erase. Also its not my cd since i just reinstalled another system using the same cd. I would greatly appreciate the help

When I install XP I leave my BIOS boot sequence at.

1: Floppy
2: CD/DVD
3: HardDrive

the differance comes when the machine boots for the 2nd time it asks me "Press any key ot boot from CD" and I do nothing - just leaving the XP cd in the drive . Perhaps you should take out the CD on reboot - and then put it in once the OS starts - phase 2 of the install.

Also you may want to check to seee if your OS partiton on the HD is set active.

Yeah i know. The second time i leave it alone but it does the startup automatically. I also take out the CD but it say no operating system found. How do i check if the Harddrive is set to active? I noticed that windows does format the drive to NTFS.

Usualy the XP install sets it to active. However it's a good idea to check using fdisk command from win95/98/me or Partition Magic.
